About the Locations

Locations describe the sites where the specimens were collected.

The code for a location record consists of two parts:

- the Collection Episode (e.g. Lignano 2007, a field trip to Lignano in 2007)
- the Sample Number Text (e.g. Sample A1, or another a unique alphanumeric code, which clearly identifies the sample within a collection episode)
- in addition, there may be photographs of the location where a sample was collected

Several specimens can be associated with the same location, and the same location can be sampled on different collection episodes (e.g. Lignano 2004, Sample C3 / Lignano 2007, Sample A4).
