The images have usually been taken in a sequence using 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x, and 100x (oil) objectives and where available we have added images of a stage micrometer at the same magnifications to permit spatial calibration.

Sandy beach in front of the old Litoralstation during a relatively low tide in 0.1m water depth. Sample pairs are surface sand (A) and from about 5cm depth (B). The last samples on the photo are C11A and C11B, so C14B is further in the water.
