eyes small, reniform. The penis-stilette is a curved and distally hooked funnel with a terminal opening. p. 204

Macrostomum ruebushi var truncatum Fig 31-34.jpg
The penis-stilette is a funnel with a crenate base which is slightly obliquely truncated. The curved and pointed termination has a small distal lip. The opening is terminal. p. 45
Macrostomum ruebushi var recurvostylum Fig 24-26.jpg
The eyes are small, black, and are not embedded in the brain tissue. The penis-stilette is an irregularly reduced funnel with a pointed end hooked into a right hand bend. The opening is terminal and is toward the posterior. The base is wide and crenated. p. 39
Macrostomum tuba Fig 13.jpg
The distal part of the stilette is slightly curved and has an expanded termination which is split in two parts. p. 128
Macrostomum virginianum Fig 18-24.jpg
The penis-stilette is unusually small for an animal of this size. It measures 35micro in length. Morphologically, the stilette is a simple, curved, funnel-like tube with a sub-terminal opening which is subtended by the pointed end. The sperm-cell is spindle-shaped. Two setae are present and there is a very large undulating 'Mittelrippe' on the mid-line of the surface of the cell extending from feeler to 'tail'. Chromatin material is not visible in this sperm-cell. p. 132/133
