This specimen was documented from a laboratory culture of worms collected in 2014 (for more details see Zadesenets, K. S., D. B. Vizoso, A. Schlatter, I. D. Konopatskaia, E. Berezikov, L. Schärer, and N. B. Rubtsov. 2016. Evidence for karyotype polymorphism in the free-living flatworm, Macrostomum lignano, a model organism for evolutionary and developmental biology.
